2005 survey conducted in 46 states, Widow's Aid found that 57% of the 12,414 respondents said widows are treated unfairly by Social Security. Only 12% thought widows received fair treatment while 31% remained undecided.

HR 266 Social Security Protection Act of 2005
Sponsor: Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite

We support this legislation which would protect Social Security beneficiaries against any reduction in benefits and provides for or has the effect of providing for cost-of-living increases of benefits under OASDI that are less than what would be provided under it as of the day of consideration of the applicable measure. The Congresswoman introduced this bill in January 2005 and while passage of this legislation is the goal we must currently work towards encouraging Members of Congress to become co-sponsors.

Special Thanks to Widow's Aid Supporters...

After receiving petitions showing our support of H.R. 266 Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite called our office thanking us for our support.

Our campaign supporting H.R. 266 continues to grow. We are targeting the House Ways and Means Committee and its leadership. Social Security is a subcommittee of this committee.
